Big Cat Refuge in Arkansas

I was on a business trip to Arkansas recently and had to find something to do on the weekend. I discovered a place called Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, which just happens to be the largest big cat rescue center in the world. They have over 100 big cats, mostly tigers, but also lions, cougars, panthers, leopards, and some other animals. Although some of the cages were pretty small, TCWR is saving animals which otherwise would have died or been killed. One piece of information which I picked up during the tour and which I find absolutely astounding: there are 3 times as many big cats living as pets in the United States alone as there are big cats in the wild in the world! Think about that for a second...
