I am in Moscow, Russia right now (February 2, 2008) as I am posting these photos. Some of the photos below depict my parents and our relatives at home and in a couple different cafes and restaurants in Moscow. My favorite pluyshki (little sweet pies) that my mom finally made for me, after endless begging and pleading (my dad was happy as well). New Year tree that my parents still had standing when I arrived. It was already fairly dried and not really green anymore, but still nice looking. It started snowing one day and I took a picture from the balcony of our apartment. A few shots of the Kremlin and the Red Square. They now have a large skating ring setup right on the Red Square, facing the Lenin's Mausolium, with a cafe right next to it (something that was totally unthinkable just a few years ago). Lots of people are skating there, but I didn't. A few pictures of my mom's batik (батик) works. A little while ago, my mom took a class in Moscow on various batik techniques and now has a few of her own works (we framed a couple). A few pictures from Malyi (Малый) and Bolshoi (Большой) theaters in Moscow. A few new war memorials in my home town Khimki. And a few more dinners with friends and relatives.
