The Tripyramid Peaks & Cascades hike traverses North (4180 ft), Middle
(4140 ft), and South Tripyramid (4080 ft) peaks of the Sandwich Range
Wilderness in the Waterville Valley of New Hampshire. We started at
the Waterville Valley Cascade Path trailhead and headed towards Mt
Tripyramid Trail loop to ascend the three peaks. The most challenging
segment of this hike was ascending the North Peak. In fact, it
appears that segment is one of the most challenging in the White
Mountains of New Hampshire. Over half of the elevation gain takes
place here (1800ft in 1.2mi). Part of this is very steep (1200 ft in
0.5 mi), basically it's pure and fairly steep slab! It's awesome when
hiking is combined with some rock climbing! Thanks to Lucas for
organizing this hike and thanks to all who came to play: Greg, Ken,
Maria, and Rita.
I actually drove up to Waterville Valley on Friday, July 25, 2008, and camped at the Waterville Valley Campground, and also explored the vicinity a bit, that night, and early on Saturday morning. Thus first few photos are not really from the hike.
